The key to creating a convincing digital illustration or icon, is figuring out what makes that object instantly identifiable. i.e. How do you draw an apple that looks like an apple, and not a tomato or an orange? You draw lots and lots of them, using a real piece of fruit or a photo of one. This forces you to look—really look—at the details. Frustration turns to satisfaction as you start to notice the details and include them. It’s a lot like solving a tough puzzle.
